Soft Pretzels - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
3/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sugar
4 c. flour
1 cake of yeast
Preparation

In a large bowl, soften 1 cake of yeast in 1 1/2 cups of lukewarm water.
Add salt and sugar, then the flour.
Knead the mixture into a soft dough.
Do not let the dough rise.
Cut into small pieces immediately and roll into ropes.
(Do not make the ropes too thick because they swell in baking).
Twist them into pretzel shapes and lay them on a foil-covered cookie sheet dusted with flour.
Brush with beaten eggs.
Bake at 400\u00b0 until golden brown.
Makes 3 to 6 dozen pretzels.
Children can make initials with the dough also.
