Syrup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    12 c. sugar
    7 c. water
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Cook for 10 minutes.
    Remove from heat; leave until cold.
    The syrup must be ice cold when you drop the koeksisters into it. Roll out the dough until thin; cut into 1/4-inch strips and braid, then cut each braid into 3-inch pieces.
    Fry in hot oil, three at a time.
    Drop into ice cold syrup for a few minutes.
    Take out, drain excess syrup and eat.
