Pone Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. plain cornmeal
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0 and heat greased iron griddle.
    Sift ingredients in bowl and cut in shortening.
    Stir in buttermilk. Shape into 8 patties and put on hot griddle in oven.
    Brown on both sides.
