Cabbage Soup(Kapusniak-Polish) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 ham bone, joint cracked (1 lb.)
    2 or 3 dried mushrooms, simmer until tender and slice into strips
    1/2 lb. diced mixed vegetables
    2 1/2 c. sauerkraut, drain off juice and reserve
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 Tbsp. caraway seed
    1/2 medium onion, minced
    3 to 4 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    3 Tbsp. bacon fat
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Combine ham bone, the mushrooms together in liquid in which they have cooked, vegetables, sauerkraut, chopped onion and caraway seed.
    Add 8 cups water and simmer until any leftover meat falls off the bone, about 1 hour.
    By then about 2 cups of the liquid should have evaporated.
