Ingredients

4 eggs
2/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. milk
1/3 c. melted shortening
3 1/2 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Preparation

Beat eggs in large bowl.
Add sugar gradually, beating until light.
Beat in milk and melted shortening.
Sift flour with baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Beat into the mixture until smooth and well blended.
Chill for several hours.
Roll out on lightly floured surface to 3/8-inch thickness.
Cut with floured doughnut cutter.
Let stand for 15 minutes.
Fry in deep hot shortening; turn once, until golden brown.
Drain on paper towel. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in paper bag.
Shake doughnuts in cinnamon mix.
