Mom'S Cornbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
3 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation

Mix cornmeal, salt and baking powder. Add milk and egg.
Mix well.
Melt shortening in iron skillet. Coat sides of skillet and pour excess into batter.
Mix well.
Sprinkle flour into bottom of skillet. Add batter.
Bake in a 425\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Makes a 5-inch skillet.
(Double for a 9 or 10-inch skillet.)
