Sicilian Apricot Cheese Dessert - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dessert shortcake
    6 shells or favorite recipe
    1/4 c. rum
    3/4 c. apricot preserves
    3/4 c. semi-sweet miniature chocolate chips
    1 container Ricotta cheese
    1/4 c. 10x sugar
    1 Tbsp. red candied chopped cherries
    1 Tbsp. chopped candied orange peel
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (17 oz.) can apricot halves, drained
    candied red cherries (for garnish)
Preparation
    Brush inside of dessert shells with rum.
    Heat preserves until melted.
    Brush on shells, reserving part of preserves.
