Old French Canadian Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. Whole Yellow Peas
    1 large. Sliced lean Ham (1 lb.)
    1 large. Onion, diced
    2 large. Carrots, peeled and sliced
    1 Medium Yellow Turnip, diced
    1 tsp. Parsley
    3-4 Bay Leaves
    2 large. cans (48 oz.) Chicken Broth
    3/4 tsp. Black Ground Pepper
    Pinch of Salt
    1 can White Hominy
    2 large White Potatoes, cut up
Preparation
    Prepare all vegetables.
    Place in stock pot, add meat and broth and seasonings.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce to simmer and add water as needed to keep liquid about 2/3 full.
    Simmer on low heat for 3-4 hours until done.
