Beef Burgundy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. chuck steak, trimmed and cut in cubes
    1/2 c. butter or oil
    1/4 c. flour
    1 tsp. meat extract paste
    1 Tbsp. tomato paste
    3 c. Burgundy
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    1/2 tsp. marjoram
    3/4 lb. mushrooms
    2 medium onions, chopped
Preparation
    Heat butter or oil; saute onions and remove.
    Add beef (1/3 at a time), brown and remove.
    Discard all but 1 tablespoon fat. Stir in flour, meat extract paste and tomato paste.
    Stir until smooth.
    Gradually add Burgundy, beef, onion, pepper, herbs and mushrooms.
    Stir until well mixed.
    Cover and bake for 2 1/2 hours.
