Old Fashioned Fruit Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs
    1 c. butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. blackberry jam
    1 tsp. soda
    2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. raisins
    1 pkg. dates
    4 c. flour
    2 pkg. figs
    1 tsp. allspice
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    4 c. nuts
Preparation
    Mix all dry ingredients; set aside.
    Cream eggs, butter, sugar and milk.
    Combine with dry mixture; mix well.
    Pour hot water over raisins; let stand a few minutes, then drain.
    Cut dates and figs in small pieces; add a little flour to prevent sticking.
    Add jam, nuts and fruit to cake mixture.
    Bake in 4 layers at 300\u00b0 for 1 hour.
