Ingredients

1 c. raw carrots
1 c. raw sweet potatoes
0.5 c. lard
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
0.75 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. raisins
Preparation

Chop carrots and shred sweet potatoes.
Combine vegetables, melted lard and sugar.
Sift together the flour, spices, salt and soda and add to the other mixture.
Add raisins and pour into a well-greased quart baking dish.
Cover and bake 1 1/2 hours in a slow oven (300\u00b0).
