French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 onions, sliced
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    4 c. water
    2 cubes vegetable or chicken bouillon
    2/3 c. white wine
    1 tsp. parsley flakes
    1 tsp. basil leaves
    8 oz. shredded Jarlsberg cheese
    4 slices crusty Italian bread
Preparation
    Preheat broiler.
    Melt butter in frying pan and fry onions until light brown and tender.
    Add water.
    Crumble bouillon cubes into water.
    Stir and allow to boil for 10 minutes.
    Add wine and seasonings.
    Stir and cover.
    Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
    Pour soup into large casserole dish or 4 individual crocks.
    Top with bread first, then cheese.
    Broil until cheese is bubbly and golden.
    Serve hot.
