Bishop Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour, sifted
    1 1/4 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. Crisco
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 egg, well beaten
    3/4 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Add flour, brown sugar and salt.
    Cream with Crisco until mixture looks like a coarse meal.
    Reserve 3/4 cup mixture for topping, to remaining add the baking powder, cinnamon, soda and egg.
    Gradually add milk.
    Beat until smooth.
    Turn into greased and floured 8 x 8-inch or 8 x 12-inch pan.
    Sprinkle with topping. Bake at 400\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
    Serve hot!!
