Christmas Cherries - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/4 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg yolk, beaten
    1 Tbsp. orange rind, grated
    1 1/2 tsp. lemon rind, grated
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 c. cake flour, sifted
    1 egg white (unbeaten)
    3/4 c. nuts, chopped
    6 glazed cherries, cut in small pieces
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolk, grated orange, lemon rind, vanilla and lemon juice until light and fluffy.
    Add flour and beat just long enough to mix.
    Chill until easy to handle.
    Form dough into 1/2-inch balls; roll in egg white and then in nuts. Place on greased cookie sheets.
    Press cherry into top of each cookie.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for approximately 10 minutes.
