Cabbage Stroganoff - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. bacon drippings or vegetable oil
    1 c. chopped onions
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    1 small or 1/2 large head cabbage, chopped
    1 c. water
    1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
    1 c. sour cream
Preparation
    In a large heavy skillet, heat drippings or oil.
    Saute onions until limp.
    Add beef and cook until browned.
    Add cabbage and 3/4 cup water.
    Cover and simmer over medium heat until cabbage is wilted.
    Sprinkle with onion soup mix and stir, mixing thoroughly. Add mushroom soup.
    Rinse can with remaining water and add to skillet.
    Stir in sour cream.
    Cover and simmer over low heat until cabbage is tender (30 to 45 minutes).
    Serve plain or with mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
