Ingredients

1 c. chopped figs
1/3 c. water
1 c. butter or regular margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
pecan or walnut halves (optional)
Preparation

Cook figs with water, stirring frequently, until thickened, about 5 minutes.
Set aside to cool.
Beat butter with both sugars until light and fluffy.
Beat in egg and vanilla to blend well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Mix into creamed mixture, then stir in cooled figs.
Drop by teaspoon 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
Makes 4 dozen.
