Cherry Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. almond extract
    3 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1 can cherry pie filling
Preparation
    Cream together butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
    Add vanilla and almond extract; mix well.
    Stir in flour and salt.
    Spread batter on jelly roll pan, saving approximately 1/4 of batter.
    Cover with cherry pie filling.
    Drop remaining batter by spoonfuls over top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Time may vary.
    You can drizzle a thin coating of icing over cooled bars.
