Dough - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 oz. fresh yeast
    pinch of sugar
    scant 1/2 pt. lukewarm water
    1 lb. plain flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. Crisco oil
Preparation
    Dissolve the yeast with a pinch of sugar in about 1/2 cup water.
    Set aside in a warm place about 10 minutes.
    In the meantime, sift the flour and salt into a large warmed bowl.
    Make a well in the center and add the oil and yeast mixture.
    Work the dough vigorously, adding the remaining lukewarm water to make a soft dough.
    Cover with a damp cloth and set aside in a warm draft. Put a little oil in the bottom of the bowl to keep the dough surface dry.
