Beanie Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    beans (any kind)
    ham or beef
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 can tomatoes
    1 large chopped onion
    1 crushed garlic clove
    juice of 1 lemon
    1 chopped green pepper
    1 or 2 c. broken macaroni
Preparation
    Take a cup and a half of beans, wash, cover with water. Add
    a tablespoon
    of salt;
    soak for at least three hours or overnight. Put beans in 2 1/2-quarts of water and boil slowly for 2
    1/2
    to 3 hours.
    Add chunks of ham or beef.
    Salt and pepper
    to\ttaste. Cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours more.
    Add tomatoes,
    onion,
    garlic, lemon juice, green pepper and macaroni. Cook for 30 minutes. Serve with hot sliced French bread and a tossed salad.
