Soft Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. whole milk
    4 slightly beaten eggs
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Scald milk. Combine eggs with sugar and salt. Stir into the milk. Cook over gently simmering water, stirring constantly, with a metal spoon, until custard begins to thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in the vanilla.
    Turn into a bowl to cool, stirring occasionally, during the cooling period.
