Vanilla Wafers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 qt. flour
    1 pt. lard
    1 Tbsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. molasses (Karo or King syrup)
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 pt. boiling water
Preparation
    Rub
    the
    lard into flour as for pie dough.
    In another dish mix
    molasses,
    sugar
    and
    vanilla.
    Dissolve
    soda
    in boiling water
    and
    mix
    with
    flour
    and lard.
    If not stiff enough, add more flour.
    Cut
    in
    strips 3 x 2-inches wide and 1/4-inch thick. Prick with fork and bake at 375\u00b0 in a greased and floured cookie sheet.
    (Grease
    and flour the cookie sheet and roll the dough on it.
    Cut,
    stick
    and
    bake, then recut when taken out of oven.)
