Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    1 lb. hamburger
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. rice
    1 head cabbage, chopped
    3 cans tomato soup
    American cheese slices
Preparation
    Saute onion in butter.
    Add hamburger; cook until colored, but do not brown.
    Salt and pepper.
    Layer in a 9 x 13-inch pan 1/2 chopped cabbage, meat mixture and remaining cabbage.
    Spoon the tomato soup over the top.
    Cover tightly with aluminum foil; bake for 1 1/2 hours at 350\u00b0.
    Five minutes before serving, top with slices of American cheese.
