Refrigerator Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    1/3 c. canning salt
    1 1/3 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/3 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/3 tsp. turmeric
    6 to 8 medium cucumbers
    6 to 8 medium onions
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers into jars until half full.
    Then slice onions until about 2/3 full.
    Finish with cucumbers.
    Pack tight but don't crush.
    Pour cold syrup of vinegar, spice and sugar over to cover.
    Place lids on jars.
    Store in the refrigerator.
    These will last about 1 year in the refrigerator.
    Let stand 4 or 5 days before using.
    Tops do not have to seal.
