Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg (unbeaten)
1/2 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Gradually add sugar to shortening, creaming until fluffy.
Add unbeaten egg and mix well.
Add peanut butter and stir until mixture is smooth.
Sift soda and flour together 3 times.
Add flour to sugar mixture gradually, combining with beating motion. After all flour has been added, beat until all ingredients are mixed.
Roll into balls not more than 1-inch in diameter.
Place balls on ungreased baking sheet.
Flatten with fork.
Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes.
