Angel Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
    1 1/2 c. whipping cream, whipped
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. sugar
    juice and rind of 1 large lemon
Preparation
    Beat egg whites until quite stiff.
    Add cream of tartar and beat until stiff.
    Fold in 1 cup sugar and pour into greased 10-inch pie pan.
    Spread over and up the sides of pan.
    Bake in moderate oven (350\u00b0) for 15 minutes.
    Turn down heat to 250\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    While the meringue is baking, stir up egg yolks and add juice and rind of lemon and the remaining sugar.
    Cook in double boiler until thick.
    Cool.
    Whip cream and spread 1/2 of it on cooled meringue shell.
    Spread lemon filling over this and top with remaining whipped cream.
    Refrigerate 3 or 4 hours before serving.
