Cherry Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 pt. pitted, fresh, red, tart cherries or 3 (16 oz.) cans pitted red, tart cherries, drained
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    1 qt. water
    1/2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. dairy sour cream
    cooked noodles or croutons
Preparation
    Combine cherries, cinnamon and cloves with the water in a large saucepan.
    Bring to boiling.
    Reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
    If desired, puree fruits by pressing through sieve or use an electric blender.
    Add sugar and stir until it dissolves. Cool thoroughly.
    Beat in sour cream.
    Serve with noodles or croutons.
    Makes 8 servings.
