Chipmunk Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 3/4 c. sifted flour (regular)
    1/4 c. cocoa
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. margarine
    1 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 small pkg. chocolate chips
    3/4 c. nuts
Preparation
    Pour water over dates and cool.
    Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs and vanilla.
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add alternately with date mixture to creamed mixture.
