Sarah'S Mandarin Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. sugar, divided
    1/2 c. slivered almonds
    1/4 c. vegetable oil
    2 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. minced fresh parsley or 1 tsp. dried
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. hot pepper sauce
    1 bunch leaf lettuce, torn
    1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges, drained
    1 small red onion, sliced
Preparation
    In a small skillet melt 3 tablespoons sugar over low heat. Add almonds; stir until coated.
    Cool, break into small pieces and set side.
    In a jar with a tight fitting lid, combine next six ingredients and remaining sugar; shake well.
    Just before serving, combine lettuce, oranges, onions and almonds in a large salad bowl.
    Shake dressing; pour over salad and toss.
    Yield:
    4 to 6 servings.
