Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

1 1/2 c. thick unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. raisins
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. walnuts
Preparation

Cook 4 to 6 apples to desired thickness and measure 1 1/2 cups into bowl.
At once, add shortening, sugar and raisins.
Stir gently a couple of times and then let cool.
Sift dry ingredients and mix carefully into applesauce mixture.
Gently add nuts.
Turn into square cake pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for approximately an hour. Good plain or with cream cheese or brown sugar frosting.
