Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. medium cucumbers, sliced
    2 c. chopped onions
    4 c. vinegar
    4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash and slice cucumbers; put in 1/2 cup salt (either canning salt or plain salt, not iodized) and water to cover cucumbers. Let stand 3 hours.
    Combine all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.
    Drain cucumbers from salt mixture and place in vinegar solution.
    Bring to a boil again.
    Put in jars.
