Company Chunks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    20 medium cucumbers or more
    8 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
    5 tsp. salt
    4 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Cover cucumbers with boiling water; let stand until next morning and drain.
    Repeat next three mornings.
    On 5th day, drain and slice into 1/2-inch slices.
    Combine remaining ingredients. Bring to boiling point and pour over cucumbers.
    Let stand 2 days. On 3rd day, bring to a boiling point and seal in hot jars.
    (I let slices heat, then pack in jar.
    Let brine come to boiling and pour over slices.)
