St. George'S Day Scones - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sifted unbleached flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter or 1/2 butter and 1/2 margarine (handles easier)
3/4 c. golden raisins
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. light cream
sugar to sprinkle
Preparation

Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, soda and salt.
Cut the butter in until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
Add raisins. Gradually add buttermilk until dough clings together.
Turn out onto floured board and pat gently into a half-inch thick round. Cut into scones with a 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on greased baking sheet (or parchment lined), brush tops with cream and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 425\u00b0 for about 10 to 12 minutes or until golden and baked through.
