Meat Ball Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. minced onion
    1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
    1 Tbsp. salad oil
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 c. water
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. sugar
    1 tsp. crushed basil leaves
    3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced (use more for larger family)
    4 small carrots, peeled and diced (use more for larger family)
    1 onion, coarsely chopped
Preparation
    Mix ground beef with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, pepper, egg, onion and bread crumbs.
    Form into balls the size of walnuts.
    Brown in hot oil.
    Remove meat balls from skillet; pour off all fat except 3 tablespoons.
    Blend in flour.
    Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil.
    Simmer over low heat 10 minutes, adding more water if necessary.
    Add to meat balls in a 2-quart casserole.
    Bake, covered, in 350\u00b0 oven 1 hour or until vegetables are tender.
    Makes 6 servings.
