Pierogi Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. elbow macaroni
    1 lb. sliced American cheese
    5 lb. medium potatoes
    1/2 lb. margarine
    1/2 lb. butter
    2 lb. onions
Preparation
    Cook macaroni according to directions.
    Make mashed potatoes. Saute onions in margarine and butter.
    In a large casserole dish, arrange the following in layers in this order:
    1/2 onion mixture, 1/2 macaroni, 1/2 cheese, 1/2 mashed potatoes, 1/2 macaroni, 1/2 cheese, the remaining 1/2 mashed potatoes with the other 1/2 onion mixture on top.
    Cover and bake at 340\u00b0 for 40 minutes.
