Chinese Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. shortening or oil
    1 lb. beef, cut into strips
    2 Tbsp. onions, minced
    1 clove garlic
    2 large green pepper, cut into strips
    1/2 c. celery, diced
    2 Tbsp. pimentos, chopped
    1 can consomme or 1/2 c. stock
    1 large can mushrooms
    salt and pepper
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 Tbsp. water
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
Preparation
    Melt shortening or oil, add beef and brown slowly.
    Add onions, garlic, green pepper, celery, pimentos, consomme, mushrooms, salt and pepper.
    Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
    Thicken with cornstarch blended with water and soy sauce.
    Simmer 5 minutes.
    Serve over rice.
