Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening (soft)
2 eggs
4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. water
1 c. cold coffee
1/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation

Stew raisins with water and let get cold.
Cream sugars and shortening; add eggs and beat.
Sift flour, baking powder, soda and spices.
Add about 1/2 cup flour mixture and beat, then coffee. Add raisins before last 1/4 of flour.
Mix thoroughly.
Drop on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes. Yields 62 to 65 cookies.
