Strawberry Shortcake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    1 beaten egg
    2/3 c. light cream
    3 to 4 c. sugared sliced strawberries
    1 c. whipping cream, whipped or 1 c. Cool Whip
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients; cut in butter until like coarse crumbs.
    Combine egg and the light cream; add all at once, stirring just enough to moisten.
    Spread dough in greased 8 x 1 1/2-inch round layer pan, building up edges slightly.
    Bake in 450\u00b0 oven for 15 to 18 minutes.
    Remove from pan; cool.
    Split in 2 layers.
    Lift top off carefully.
    Butter bottom layer.
    Spoon berries and the whipped cream or Cool Whip between layers and on top.
