French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 or 5 large onions
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 qt. beef stock or bouillon
    6 slices French bread
    1 c. Swiss or Gruyere cheese, grated
    2 Tbsp. apple brandy (if desired)
Preparation
    Slice onions and separate into rings.
    Saute in foaming margarine until transparent.
    Add flour then beef stock.
    Simmer 30 minutes.
    Pour in soup bowls.
    Add sliced French bread.
    Top with grated cheese.
    Broil just until cheese is melted.
    Serves 6.
