Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. light corn syrup
2 eggs, separated
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. finely chopped walnuts
21 oz. can cherry pie filling
Preparation

In large bowl of electric mixer, beat butter, sugar and vanilla on\tmedium speed until light and fluffy.
Beat in corn syrup and
egg
yolks.
Stir
in flour and salt until blended. Refrigerate
dough\t30 minutes.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls. In small
bowl,
lightly
beat
egg
whites.
Dip balls in egg whites and
roll
in walnuts.
Place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets.
With thumb, make deep indentation in center of each cookie.
Bake
at
325\u00b0 for 20 minutes.
Cool.
Fill with cherry filling.
