Brown Betty - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. nuts, chopped
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. milk
    1 c. flour
    1/2 c. dates, chopped
    pinch of salt
    2 c. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix thoroughly.
    Put the dough in a buttered deep oblong pan or square 12 x 12-inch, then very carefully put the hot syrup over it a spoonful at a time.
    Bake 45 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Serve with whipped cream topping.
