Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium size red cabbage
    3 Tbsp. butter
    6 Tbsp. sugar
    1 sour apple, grated
    1 c. red currant jelly
    1/4 c. vinegar or lemon juice
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Wash cabbage.
    Remove outer leaves and core.
    Shred very fine in a heavy saucepan or kettle.
    Melt the butter with sugar.
    Mix in shredded cabbage, grated apple, jelly and vinegar.
    Blend thoroughly.
    Simmer and stir 10 minutes.
    Add 1/4 cup water at a time and let it evaporate each time.
    Cook and stir frequently for 30 minutes.
