Square Dance Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 2/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. soft butter
2/3 c. milk
3 egg whites
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. lemon
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together and add butter and milk.
Beat 2 minutes.
Add egg whites, vanilla and lemon and beat 2 minutes. Blend in chopped walnuts.
Pour into well-greased and lightly floured 8 x 8-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 50 minutes.
Cool and cut cake into 4 squares.
Frost with Checkerboard Frosting.
