Dinette Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. milk
1/3 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Grease and flour pan (8 x 8 x 2-inches); (9 x 9 x 2-inches), or round pan (9 x 1 1/2-inches).
Beat all ingredients in a large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.
Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes.
Pour into pan.
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean; square (35 to 40 minutes); round (35 minutes).
Cool.
