Favorite Vegetable Soup(Red In Color) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    meat bones or flanken
    1 lb. pkg. frozen mixed vegetables
    1 medium onion, chopped
    1 to 2 carrots, chopped
    1 large can tomato sauce
    salt and pepper to taste
    1 1/2 c. split peas
    1 1/2 c. barley
    1 to 2 stalks celery, chopped
    1 potato, chopped
    1 small piece cabbage (optional)
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in large pot.
    Fill with cold water to top. Bring to boil.
    Skim off top and reduce to low.
    Continue cooking on low for approximately 2 to 3 hours, partially covered.
