Fruit Cake(Mrs. Carmichael'S Recipe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 1/4 lb. light brown sugar
    1 lb. flour
    3 lb. currants
    4 lb. raisins
    1/2 lb. citron, chopped
    1 lb. figs, chopped
    1/2 lb. either almond, pecan or hickory nut meats
    2 oranges, grated rind and juice
    10 eggs, yolks and whites beaten separately
    1 c. flour for dredging fruit
    1 c. jelly
    1 c. strong coffee
    1 tsp. each: cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves
    2 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Clean the fruit.
    Cut up the citron and prepare the oranges. Cream the butter and sugar and add beaten egg yolks, coffee, jelly, flour, spices and soda which have been mixed together.
    Add the fruit which has been dredged in flour.
    Mix all together and fold in the egg whites.
    Put in buttered pans of the desired size and shape and set pans in a large pan of boiling water.
    Cover with a sheet of heavy wrapping paper and bake 3 hours or set the pans in a steamer and steam 3 hours.
