Vidalia Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    4 medium Vidalias, sliced into 1/4-inch rings
    15 saltines, crushed
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    2 eggs, beaten
    1/2 to 3/4 c. milk
    1 c. shredded sharp cheese
Preparation
    Melt butter or margarine in large frying pan.
    Saute onions over medium heat until clear.
    Reserve 3 tablespoons crumbs for topping.
    Place remaining crumbs in bottom of lightly greased 2-quart casserole.
    Remove onions with slotted spoon.
    Add soup and onions in layers.
