Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can sliced peaches or 3 c. fresh peaches (if using fresh peaches cook 5 minutes with 1 c. sugar)
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sugar
    2/3 c. milk
    dash of cinnamon
    dash of nutmeg
    2 drops almond extract
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
Preparation
    Sift flour with salt, baking powder and sugar.
    Add milk; beat well.
    Set aside.
    Add spices and the almond extract to peaches. Set aside.
    Melt butter in an 11 x 17-inch Pyrex dish.
    Pour batter over butter (do not stir).
    Pour peaches and juice over batter (do not stir).
    Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven until top is brown and crust rises to the top (approximately 30 to 40 minutes).
    Remove from oven and sprinkle with sugar.
    Return to oven and bake 10 minutes more.
    Serves 8.
