Western Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    3 1/2 c. tomatoes (1 lb. can)
    1 c. chopped bell pepper
    1/2 c. chopped onion
    1/2 c. uncooked rice
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. basil
    dash of pepper
Preparation
    Brown ground beef; add tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, rice, salt, basil and pepper.
    Cover and simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Top with slices of Velveeta cheese.
    Heat until melted.
