Praline Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. pecans
Preparation
    In a large, heavy saucepan, pour buttermilk, sugar and soda together.
    Stir until the sugar is thoroughly mixed.
    Cook on medium heat, stirring constantly, until it turns brownish in color and reaches soft ball stage.
    Remove from heat; add margarine, vanilla and pecans.
    Beat mixture until it becomes glossy and starts to crystallize.
    Quickly spoon out the candy into patties on waxed paper or greased cookie sheet.
    Let cool.
