Butterscotch Slices(Refrigerator Cookie) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. soft shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. finely chopped walnuts or pecans

Preparation

Sift together first 4 ingredients.
Mix shortening, brown sugar and egg until creamy.
Add flour mixture, vanilla and nuts; mix well.
Turn dough onto large piece of wax paper.
Shape into roll 2 inches in diameter.
Chill, slice and bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375\u00b0.
Makes 4 to 5 dozen.
